The Day of the Lord

2 Peter 3

The Day of the Lord

Dear friends, this is now my second letter to you. I have written both of them as reminders to stimulate you to wholesome thinking. I want you to recall the words spoken in the past by the holy prophets and the command given by our Lord and Savior through your apostles.

Above all, you must understand that in the last days scoffers will come, scoffing and following their own evil desires. They will say, “Where is this ‘coming’ he promised? Ever since our ancestors died, everything goes on as it has since the beginning of creation.” But they deliberately forget that long ago by God’s word the heavens came into being and the earth was formed out of water and by water. By these waters also the world of that time was deluged and destroyed. By the same word the present heavens and earth are reserved for fire, being kept for the day of judgment and destruction of the ungodly.

But do not forget this one thing, dear friends: With the Lord a day is like a thousand years, and a thousand years are like a day.The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.

10 But the day of the Lord will come like a thief. The heavens will disappear with a roar; the elements will be destroyed by fire, and the earth and everything done in it will be laid bare.[a]

11 Since everything will be destroyed in this way, what kind of people ought you to be? You ought to live holy and godly lives12 as you look forward to the day of God and speed its coming.[b]That day will bring about the destruction of the heavens by fire, and the elements will melt in the heat. 13 But in keeping with his promise we are looking forward to a new heaven and a new earth, where righteousness dwells.

14 So then, dear friends, since you are looking forward to this, make every effort to be found spotless, blameless and at peace with him. 15 Bear in mind that our Lord’s patience means salvation, just as our dear brother Paul also wrote you with the wisdom that God gave him. 16 He writes the same way in all his letters, speaking in them of these matters. His letters contain some things that are hard to understand, which ignorant and unstable people distort, as they do the other Scriptures, to their own destruction.

17 Therefore, dear friends, since you have been forewarned, be on your guard so that you may not be carried away by the error of the lawless and fall from your secure position. 18 But grow in the grace and knowledge of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and forever! Amen.

This passage is so full of information I could write volumes ~ but I won’t. This is so exciting to me. I’ve written previously about how incredible it is that we are living in the Bible times. This passage is talking about today. The “gotcha” people that always try to trip up Christians and prove them wrong like to bring up the fact that we’ve been talking about Jesus’ return for centuries. Well, where is he? God is taking his time. He wants as many people as possible to come to him before he sends his Son, Jesus, to come get his people. He loves us so much, he wants us all to come home. People often bitterly speak about how terrible God is because he sends people to hell and they don’t want any part of him. First of all, if they’re mad that God sends people to hell, how are they punishing God by sending themselves to hell…? Second, God doesn’t send people to hell ~ God lovingly waits on us to turn to him. God won’t force us. He wants true love ~ not forced love.

As much as God loves us, his wrath is beyond our comprehension. I recently spent some alone time with God asking him how I describe the magnitude of his POWER with mere words. There are no words. When I consider the happenings around the earth, the hurricanes, earthquakes, tornados, tsunamis, floods, fires, drought, famine, and many, many disasters we have not yet heard about, this is just the very tip of God’s power. God has so much more in store for the world that rejects him.

God knew that these last days would be days of lawlessness. He knew satan would be working hard to crush our faith. He new the temptations to go the way of the world would be great. There will come a day, very very soon, that we all will stand in judgment before God Almighty. Not one of us will be overlooked. There will be no place to hide. Being a good person won’t be enough to get us into heaven. We need to repent, turn from our sin, and follow Jesus. To a lot of people, that just doesn’t sound like fun. Let me assure you, the joy and peace that Jesus brings will outshine ANYthing you can ever find here on earth. And I can also assure you that if you die without Jesus, or if Judgment Day comes before you die (which it most likely will) and you don’t have Jesus, you will endure eternal torture and suffering. God does not want that for you. He doesn’t want that for anyone. That’s why he’s waiting. But he won’t wait forever. Come to God while you still can.

Jackie Hill Perry

God has asked me to be still for a few days so it’s been a while since I’ve written. There’s a lot going on in the world that I have strong opinions on but I want to be careful not to say something that may be hurtful or offensive to anyone. That’s never my intention however, unfortunately, sometimes it happens anyway. Maybe that’s why God wanted me to be quiet ~ he knows I have a big mouth.

Today, as I was scrolling through a popular social media site, I came across a clip of a woman preaching. It piqued my interest so I googled her and really liked what I found. Maybe she’s been out there a while and I’m just behind the times. Maybe she’s relatively new on the scene, but I like what she has to say. She preaches the Word and tells the truth. Her name is Jackie Hill Perry. Here is one of her sermons. Enjoy.

The Lord is My Shepherd

Psalm 23

23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want.

He maketh me to lie down in green pastures: he leadeth me beside the still waters.

He restoreth my soul: he leadeth me in the paths of righteousness for his name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil: for thou art with me; thy rod and thy staff they comfort me.

Thou preparest a table before me in the presence of mine enemies: thou anointest my head with oil; my cup runneth over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life: and I will dwell in the house of the Lord for ever.

God is a good and loving Father

Psalm 76:10
Surely your wrath against mankind brings you praise, and the survivors of your wrath are restrained.
I’m not going to even attempt to second guess God. I can’t say whether these hurricanes are punishment, wrath, wake up calls, bringing people together, or a combination of everything. God has a purpose for everything and his timing is perfect.
God’s might and power are breathtaking. When I try to think what the Almighty is capable of doing, storms like Harvey, Irma, and Katia are mere sprinkles. When I think of the massive devastation from the floods and the fires, I then think that God is so much more powerful than that. He can save us all, dry up the floods, calm the winds, quench the fires, all in a crook of his finger. He can also allow so much more devastation than this.
God is a good and loving Father. He is also a just God. He judges the nations by their actions and their attitudes. He knows if we collectively seek his face. God is bringing judgment to the entire world and it is nothing compared to what it will be on the Day of the Lord ~ Judgment Day. We will individually stand before him to be judged. Will you be a sheep or a goat? Will you be sent to the right or the left? Will you enter Paradise or the lake of fire?
Matthew 25:32-34, 41, 46

32 All the nations will be gathered before him, and he will separate the people one from another as a shepherd separates the sheep from the goats. 33 He will put the sheep on his right and the goats on his left.

34 “Then the King will say to those on his right, ‘Come, you who are blessed by my Father; take your inheritance, the kingdom prepared for you since the creation of the world.

41 “Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you who are cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels.

46 “Then they will go away to eternal punishment, but the righteous to eternal life.”
We, as a country, must be on our knees. We must keep praying. We can pray individually, as a team, a group, a church, where 2 or 3 are gathered in Jesus name, he is there with them. (Matthew 18:20) Or you can read along in agreement. Let’s pray.
Father, thank you for your love and protection. Thank you for sending so many rescuers to Texas in the flooded areas. We ask that the workers will be safe and not grow weary. Please bring comfort and safety to the victims of Harvey ~ the children, animals, elderly, and the sick.
God please be with the victims of the fires. Open up the heavens and pour out the blessing of rain to quench the fires. Let the devastation cease and regrowth begin.
We love you, Lord. Thank you for your mercies. Thank you for all the gifts that you give to us. In Jesus name.
2 Chronicles 7:14 [Full Chapter]

if my people, who are called by my name, will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and I will forgive their sin and will heal their land.

We are Americans

During these fearful times of disaster, our country has come together to show it’s true spirit. Americans from across the country are rushing to the aid of people all over Texas, sometimes even rescuing the rescuers. The Lord told me to sit back and watch for a few days. This message was, when people’s lives are in peril, the rescuer does not stop to ask, “What political party are you affiliated with?” or “What religion are you?” “What are your views on abortion?” or “Sorry, wrong color.”

All the things that we bicker about during our every day lives and our social stands we take, really aren’t that important. Sure, it’s important to have views and opinions on things that are important to us but to what point? People are at the point of physical beatings, shootings, throwing urine, feces, and acid in people’s faces, talking about terrorism and civil war, white supremacy, black supremacy, Nazism, fascism, and tearing down things they deem offensive.

The main stream media is mostly to blame. They report on this, post live footage, exaggerate situations with promises of “BREAKING NEWS!”, and feeding the narrative. If msm focused on the heroic efforts of the people in Texas, focus on financial and material needs for the victims and shelters right now, report on the terrible fires in Montana, who else needs our help, instead of focusing on insignificant little hate groups, we would be in much better shape. Do we really care what kind of shoes or what anyone wears to a rescue? Really? And why do we buy in to these criticisms?

You don’t have to like the president or first lady. Nobody asked you to. But please try to redirect your hearts toward our country and our people. There is so much need here ~ everywhere. Focus your hearts and minds on how to help and who to help instead of tearing down. Dare to be a giver. We’re better than tearing down. We are lovers, helpers, builders, counselors, givers, prayers. We are Americans!
