Fighting in the streets

This weekend there was terrible fighting in the streets. I didn’t investigate the story. I know it was racially motivated and I don’t like to give racism a stronghold. It exists. I know that. I have been a victim of racism, my family, my friends, everyone I know has, in one way or another, been a victim of racism. It’s not always the same kind of racism against the same kind of people, but there’s no right or wrong, better or worse, us or them.
Our country is so divided on so many levels but I’ve seen it more divided than this. Somehow, it seems like the wounds cut deeper than before. People are meaner and try harder to do damage than before. The hate seems to be sincere and running rampant in the streets. There seem to be more hate groups than ever before.
People are fighting over statues. That’s just stupid. People don’t need to die over statues. It’s not a cause worth giving your life for. Oh, I know it’s much more than statues, but statues were the catalyst. There is not one side that is right or wrong. I’ve had this discussion many times. Some say the old statues of the Civil War are racist. Some say they are our history. I say we compromise. Put them all in a place where those who appreciate them can view them without risking their lives and those that are offended by them don’t have to look at them. There’s no reason to fight.
However, this lawlessness is indicative of the last days, the end times before we meet Jesus in the sky and are taken home to heaven. I have written about the end times previously and I’ll write about them again. This is what we are living right now. This generation will not pass before we see Jesus.
Mark 13:24-3
24 “But in those days, following that distress,
“‘the sun will be darkened,
and the moon will not give its light;
25 the stars will fall from the sky,
and the heavenly bodies will be shaken.’[c]
26 “At that time people will see the Son of Man coming in clouds with great power and glory. 27 And he will send his angels and gather his elect from the four winds, from the ends of the earth to the ends of the heavens.
28 “Now learn this lesson from the fig tree: As soon as its twigs get tender and its leaves come out, you know that summer is near. 29 Even so, when you see these things happening, you know that it[d] is near, right at the door. 30 Truly I tell you, this generation will certainly not pass away until all these things have happened. 31 Heaven and earth will pass away, but my words will never pass away.
These are terrible times and I know they will get worse. But the sun will be darkened completely soon by the eclipse. This doesn’t just happen every day. If this event is not what was mentioned in the Bible, we know it can happen. Some of the other things that must happen are the following:
2 Timothy 3:1-5
3 But mark this: There will be terrible times in the last days. 2 People will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boastful, proud, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, 3 without love, unforgiving, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not lovers of the good, 4 treacherous, rash, conceited, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God— 5 having a form of godliness but denying its power. Have nothing to do with such people.
“Having a form of godliness but denying its power.” There are many who believe that God will not follow through on the punishments he has stated in the Bible if we don’t turn from our sin. People deny that God would “do that to them” because He loves them. Yes, God loves but He also does what He says and He means what He says.
I’d like to hear your thoughts and read your comments. You don’t have to agree with me but please be respectful of others. Thanks.
