Jesus Comforts His Disciples
14 “Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God[a]; believe also in me. 2 My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? 3 And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
I’m trying to let not my heart be troubled. There is an awful lot of sadness surrounding us sometimes and people we know and love are experiencing unimaginable pain and grief. We know God is our comfort and we know loved ones who are believers go home to be with Him. Sometimes the pain is so great.
This young, beautiful, pregnant mother of 5 with terminal brain cancer who is struggling to stay alive for another couple weeks to give her unborn baby a chance at live is so incredibly hard to understand. We pray for a miraculous healing and we know that she will be with the Lord when He chooses to take her home but we hurt for her husband and children.
Another woman lost her husband yesterday and her brother today. My heart is heavy for her. I know her husband is no longer suffering and is now with the Lord but why is death so hard, so painful?
God has a plan and He has perfect timing. We have to remember that God is in control and He knows what He’s doing. We knew there would be trials. We knew things would be hard. We also know that in the midst of these storms, God brings peace and comfort. Without trials and hard times, we wouldn’t feel his perfect love. We need to let Him comfort us. We need to feel His embrace. We need to let God be our Abba, Father. Thank you, Abba, for being our comfort.
